Spread some cheer: A cause worth telling you about

I so missed you all! But thanks to our Diwali blog festival, I am in the loop about all your Diwali celebrations and I enjoyed reading all your posts, seeing your lovely Diwali pics, your decor and sweets!! I was away for a bit as my brother got married, and it was a fun 20 days…the last guests are now leaving, the couple has left to start their life together, and I am now back at work! It’s wonderful to be back with a post but this one is one of my social awareness posts.

Remember the feature on Vikram Nandwani and his creative toons? Vikram has tied up with a Pune-based NGO called Prayatna that helps kids with learning disabilities. The entire proceeds of Vikram’s Verry India Calendars will go towards this cause. There are five single page A3 calendars priced at Rs. 200 each (USD 10 for outside India).

In an email to me Vikram said, “November 14th is celebrated as Children’s’ Day in India. ‘Spread Some Cheer’ is intended to help make this day and the coming new year special for two amazing children suffering from Fragile X Syndrome. It will be great if we can together help Seena and Amar Ali (circled in picture above), aged fourteen and nine years, who are suffering from Fragile X Syndrome and cannot afford special education. FXS or Martin Bell Syndrome is a genetic syndrome which results in a spectrum of characteristic physical and intellectual limitations.” Read more about Fragile X Syndrome here.

Isn’t this a wonderful cause? The calendars are lovely with Vikram’s trademark and much loved characters Dhondu Dhobi, Doodh Patil, Guru Ghantal, Bhatku and Teaka Ram adorning them. Here are pics of each of the 5 calendars.
