I was saddened to wake up to the news that Mario Miranda is no more. Though he was 85 when he passed on, he is one of those people that we wish lived on and on – to give us more of his awesome signature MM cartoons!

When I was younger, no trip to Goa was complete without picking up a jumbo pack of Vinicola Wine because the box was adorned with MM’s cartoons. Mario’s style was unique, and I loved looking at them in the Illustrated Weekly.

Here are some of his cartoons in his inimitable style!

Mario’s signature style and Mario’s work are irreplaceable. You will live on through your work, Mario. Thank you for your cartoons, for giving it to us!

My brother and I used to collect his cartoons from the TOI newspapers and make scrapbook albums. We still have them..its all yellowed out.

  5. Indeed! Mario Miranda was one of the finest minds we had. RIP, Sir.

By the way, maybe you could direct readers to his website where his works (originals too) are available on sale. Even if one can't afford the originals, one can pick up a little Mario via prints on cards, posters, etc.
