Design Democracy 2025 – Hyderabad Calling!

If you love design, interiors, and all things creative, block your calendars! Hyderabad is once again hosting Design Democracy (DD) 2025, India’s cultural forum for interiors, architecture, product design and art. It is heartening to see the design landscape sprouting events like this – as it blurs the lines and brings different ideas together in one place. Though I won’t be attending, I thought I’d do a quick round-up for you, so you don’t miss out on this buzzing design festival.

Dates of the Event

This year, Design Democracy 2025 will be held from September 5–7, 2025 at the HITEX Exhibition Centre in Hyderabad. Three days of design inspiration, conversations, and experiences await!

Who Founded DD and Why Hyderabad?

Design Democracy was founded by Shailja Patwari, Pallika Sreewastav, and Arjun Rathi, with the idea of creating an inclusive, democratic space where design, craft, and culture meet.

Why Hyderabad? Well, apart from being one of India’s most vibrant cities, Hyderabad has been positioning itself as a cultural capital—mixing heritage, tech innovation, and a cosmopolitan design community. The city’s central location also makes it easy for people to fly in from across India.

This Year’s Exhibitors and Panel Discussions Worth Attending

Over 120 design brands will be exhibiting this year. Expect everything from luxury interiors to sustainable design studios.

  • Atelier Pavilion – a space dedicated to cutting-edge product and furniture design.
  • Canvas Pavilion – celebrating art, creativity, and installations.
  • Muse Pavilion – a showcase of stories and culture-driven design.
  • Museum of Telangana (MOT) curation – curated by designer Supraja Rao, this has become a much-loved anchor at DD.

Panel discussions will feature 80+ speakers across topics like sustainable design, the future of craft, architecture in India’s urban spaces, and storytelling through interiors. If you’re into design thinking and conversations that challenge the status quo, the DD Talks series is definitely worth attending.

This is a panel discussion topic that intrigued me – and it would have been lovely to have a ringside view to this conversation!

One of the Panel discussions is titled Kanchipuram, Kaddapa and Creativity
