BBC Good Homes: 2nd Anniversary Collectors’ Edition

BBC good homes - 2nd anniversary collector edition

It’s a hectic week for me. We are shifting soon to our new place and I BBC good homes, 2nd anniversary collector editionam in the middle of a whole lot of unpacking, sorting and give away sessions. Amid all this madness, the courier guy rang the bell and I was happy to see that it wasn’t a bill he was delivering, but this month’s subscription copy of The BBC Good Homes. It is a collectors’ edition and a must-buy! I love the fact that they are also giving a free decor guide CD which is replete with some awesome inspirational pics. With the house quiet and all to myself, I immediately plonked down on a bit of free floor space, for a much-needed magazine break ๐Ÿ˜‰

Here are some pics from the mag.

loved the top right Balti stool
I particularly loved the top right Balti stool!

a bathroom console
This is a bathroom console. Don’t you just love it?

kitsch fan
I am a huge kitsch fan (see this post on Indian kitsch), and I was
delighted to see a whole article dedicated to kitsch in decor!

the kitchen pics form Brigette
This and the opening pic of my post are the kitchen pics form Brigette and her daughter
Leela’s indo-french haveli in Jaipur. In my eyes, this is easily the star feature of this issue.

lovely tea time
There are some lovely tea time recipes too!

Well, I loved the issue overall, but there was in fact something I didn’t think too much of – there’s a whole feature on Easter decor, quite annoying if you ask me, knowing that the mag got delivered to me after Easter! No complaints about the decor, but it would have been more palatable had it featured decorations with an Indian touch. It looked more suited to a Western audience, tchah!

I was also going to feature Elle Decor India’s collectors’ issue but realized that Bhavna has already blogged about it. So go read about it over at The Indian Summer.

P.S I notice that the pics don’t look too good in my post. The pictures in the mag are beautiful! My excitement and messy home may have something to do with the bad pic quality out here. Excuses, excuses ๐Ÿ˜‰ – Sharon

  1. awesome! I like the sections in the wall that hold artifacts, in the first pic. We see those typically in ancient houses no? Where the walls were thick enough.

And you are giving away stuff .. ๐Ÿ™ Boohoohoo!

  2. G, I love those nooks too. I wish we had bought this place in the construction stage for I swear I would have included these in. They look lovely, don't they?

Yep giving away stuff – ๐Ÿ™‚ old clothes, baby stuff, etc – you are welcome to come take your pick haha ๐Ÿ˜‰

  3. I was going through it too a few days back…and yes, thought the Easter pages were too late.

Also, found that they seem to be getting too matchy-matchy in their decor….it's missing a sense of realism that one gets in real homes. I love two of the three homes featured in this issue.

  4. Love the kitschy decor… always loved kitschy stuff- indian and western…just gorgeous. And the stools; wow! saw a beautiful stool shop in sydney 2 summers ago. Didn't photograph it. I wasn't into blogging then. Too bad!

  6. Lovely images..have to figure out how to get a hold of this magazine. I agree with Pat, wish a courier guy would deliver magazines at my home!!

  7. Photos are indeed somewhat blurred, but it is understandable that you took the pic from a magazine and not the real objects ๐Ÿ™‚ Thanks for sharing info about this 2nd edition.. let me see if I can get a hand on to this book somewhere!

  8. Wow!thanks for the post…i am rushing out to get my copy the minute I can! I so very desperately need a break…and this magazine is calling out to me ๐Ÿ™‚
